Women should be recognized in all fields. There cannot be short cuts when it comes to them. Women should learn from other women who have made it big despite all odds, says director Thanesh Saravanan.
The Meendu Vaa director spills his thoughts on women empowerment.
What prompted you to make a film on women?
The nature of our society and their attitude towards women promoted us to make a film on women.
What is women empowerment according to you?
When it comes to women there cannot be any negotiations and all of us should give proper recognition to women for me this will be and is women empowerment.
Could you relate to any instances where women were either celebrated or oppressed?
People like Malala and other great women had to break barriers and they did that. This is women empowerment to me. They have already shown the path and other women should walk on it. It isn’t easy, but not impossible either.
How should society go about enabling women to be empowered?
Every member in the society should strive at achieving this. We have to lend them support and also encourage the women in the family. This small change can really bring huge life changing miracles.
