What prompted you to make a film on women?
The strong urge to display my gratitude towards all women in my life who are the pillars of strength to me. This is my way of showing gratitude by demonstrating this emotion through my work.
What is women empowerment according to you?
Encouraging and promoting self-reliance, self-determination for women and most importantly to make sure they have liberty to make their own strategic life choices is what I think women empowerment should be.
Could you relate to any instances where women were either celebrated or oppressed?
I have always witnessed in my family the respect and the authority for decision making and handling situations were mostly held by the women of the family. I have seen my dad always consulting mom before taking big decisions or discussing for better planning of things. However, I have also seen women being looked down upon in my extended family at my native.
Personal icons of women who made a difference to the society or to you and what do you think have been symbols of change?
My personal icon is my mother as she had a significant role in success of my father professionally as well as personally and for me as well. In any difficult situations, she always had the best solutions. Also my wife who believes in me immensely and always makes sure that we are capable of facing life with new outlook.
How should society go about enabling women to be empowered?
I really think our society should focus on education for women which is the solution to all troubles they might face in their life. Education provides self-reliance and boosts the confidence to tackle situations and emerge victorious in whatever life offers them!!!
